Getting Over Our Supermarket Addiction
Yammer Sustainable Agriculture Stage
The busy-ness of daily life, the abundance of one-stop shopping plazas and a lack of education about how to grow our own and buy local has led to a nationwide supermarket addiction. This attachment leads to environmental destruction, an overabundance of processed foods making us sick, and an utter neglect of our local ecosystems and economies. But our overuse of these mega-food plazas is a habit, not a need. In this workshop, Nicole Caldwell will share information that will educate you about growing your own in any setting, shopping smart, the difference between ingredients and products, local meat options no matter your zip code, finding local growers and basic food-prep skills that will save you tons of money, support the local economy, reduce your carbon footprint, and make you healthier.
With more than 150 workshops at this year's Mother Earth News Fair, there is no shortage of informative demonstrations and lectures to educate and entertain you over the weekend.
